Rihanna Confirms Paris Showings for Fenty Puma

PARIS — Rihanna and Puma plan to stream the next Fenty Puma show live from Paris, where the singer has scheduled two evening presentations on Sept. 28.

This confirms a WWD report on Aug. 25 that the music star was planning to show her spring collection in the French capital after a debut last February during New York Fashion Week.

“It’s a dream for me to be able to present my second collection of Fenty Puma by Rihanna in Paris,” said the singer, who is creative director of Puma. “I approached this season very differently and felt the theme and concept was best suited for one of my favorite cities, Paris.”
The collection is to be presented to buyers, press, influencers and the world in a unique, intimate and very different way befitting of the collection’s direction, style and its namesake creative director,” Fenty Puma said in a statement.

The presentations are to be streamed by Tidal to members and non-members, along with interviews and behind-the-scenes content.

Scheduled for 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. CET, the Fenty spectacles could impact attendance at the Lemaire and Vionnet shows, now on the official calendar at 7 and 8 p.m., respectively. Paris Fashion Week runs from Sept. 27 to Oct. 5.

The first full Fenty Puma collection was shipped earlier this month, while the spring collection is slated to arrive in stores and include footwear, apparel and accessories for both women and men.

Rihanna is the German athletic company’s highest-profile collaborator. Puma, controlled by Kering, signed her to a three-year contract at the end of 2014.

Fenty is the Barbadian singer and songwriter’s last name (her first name is Robyn) and she chose to use it for the Puma collection in order not to “oversaturate people with the Rihanna brand,” she told WWD earlier this year.

Her fur slides, high-top trainers and creeper shoes were greeted with enthusiasm at retail.

Her fall show exalted Japanese street style, mixing up Goth, erotica and sport with takes on wrestling gear, boxing shorts and robes, tracksuits and hoodies.
