Lupita Nyong’o is baffled by rumors that she wouldn’t be returning for Star Wars: Episode VIII.
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 12 Years A Slave Oscar winner said ‘ I don’t know where this rumor came from. It hurt my feelings because I’ve shot my scenes.’
‘You never really know, when you shoot your scenes in a movie, which ones are gonna make it and all that. So, it’s always, ‘Fingers crossed!’’ she added. ‘But as far as I know, I’m in it.’
Nyong’o plays Maz Kanata, a thousand-year-old alien dubbed the ‘pirate queen’, using motion capture to bring the character to life.
The actress addressed the rumors during her sit-down interview with Ellen as she continues to promote her current big screen release Queen Of Katwe.
The talk show host and comedienne pointed out that the Kenyan beauty has graced her third Vogue cover this month.
Nyong’o explained how she’d suggested to the fashion magazine that they shoot photos of her in her ancestral home in Africa, and they’d agreed.
Among the pictures is one of her with her 96-year-old grandmother wearing traditional dress.
